What is Industrial Hemp and is it legal?
Industrial hemp (Cannabis sativa) has been grown in WA and other parts of Australia legally for many years and is gaining interest due to recent changes in food standards allowing human consumption of hemp seed in Australia.
Industrial hemp is legal and regulated in Western Australia under the Industrial Hemp Act 2004. The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development acts as the registrar for the act.
The Industrial Hemp Act 2004 states that 'industrial hemp' means cannabis, the leaves and flowering heads of which do not contain more than 1.0% of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). These low levels of THC mean that industrial hemp plants do not have the psychoactive effects associated with prohibited cannabis varieties (marijuana).
Industrial hemp is a versatile crop which can be cultivated for both fibre and seed production. Fibre and hurd can be extracted from the stem, and seeds can be hulled and eaten, or pressed for omega rich oil and protein rich powder.

Will my furry friend be intoxicated?
No. All our products have hempseed oil as a base and hempseed oil does not contain the psychoactive ingredient THC but does contain omega rich oils and essentially fatty acids.
Hemp Drops is our only product that uses other parts of the industrial hemp plant which contain <1% THC as legislated and as a result will not have any psychoactive effects.
Will my Horse pass a swab test?
Yes they will. The Raw Hemp Oil for horses and Hemp Meal we provide contain no THC. Hempseed oil and Hemp Meal have been tested and there is no THC present that would give a positive test result.
Will hempseed oils help with anxiety and stress?
We have had wonderful results with anxiety and stress, so the oils may help for sure, we find that the small amount of oil given orally (usually in food) will have a fantastic result and many customers tell us within 3 days to a week there anxious friend becomes a lot calmer and settled, for this condition we would recommend you try the Hoki Blend.
Will hempseed oils help with skin conditions?
Yes, the oils may certainly help, when used with a healthy diet the gut reacts well to Hempseed oil and the animals find their coat health improves and becomes a lot shinier. It is all about inner health here at Hempology and we know that if you put healthy products inside your furbaby it also shows on the outside. For this we would recommend trying the Hemp Nectar. However, for other environmental issues including ear infections etc, the Hoki Blend would cover skin conditions and a broader range of aliments.
Can hempseed oils help with mobility issues such as arthritis
Hempseed oil contain Omegas 3, 6 and 9 and can assist with joint health. We have reports of dogs that were older and slowing down a lot that now can easily get up out of bed and seem to moving a lot better. Its these wonderful stories that make us proud to be a part of this ever changing industry. For mobility we would recommend the Hemp Nectar.
Is there science behind the Hemp Drops product?
Yes, and the body of evidence and research continues to grow and supports the use of industrial hemp.
Firstly, most of our products are hempseed oil based and not CBD oil based. Hence the following is not applicable to those products (Hemp Nectar, Hemp Treats and Hoki Blend Oils). Hempseed oil product's nutritional value is based on the generally accepted benefits from Omega 3, 6 and 9 and essential fatty acids you obtain from hempseed oil along with the benefits of fish oil and coconut oil.
To put simply for Hemp Drops:
- Humans and animals have a system called the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) which is like the nervous, cardiovascular system and the digestive system
- ECS is responsible for maintaining and restoring homeostasis – which means it optimises and restores balance and harmony within our bodies for all our systems and processes (such as pumping heart, breathing lungs, digesting food)
- Research is showing cannabinoids from industrial hemp may enhance our natural ECS and assist the body alleviate many symptoms.

Can I buy Hemp Drops online?
No, unfortunately the drops are only available to buy through vets. Please contact us at sales@hempology.com.au so we can direct you to your closest veterinary stockist.
Is there any interactions with my pets current medications?
As far as we are aware there has not been an interaction due to the fact our products are all natural and chemical free, however, we recommend that if you have a concern please seek advice from your veterinary clinic.
Do you ship overseas?
Yes we do, contact us on sales@hempology.com.au to enquire about shipping to your country.
How long before I receive my order?
For Australian orders we expect 7 – 14 days and for shipping overseas we expect this to take around 10 – 21 days.
How will I know my product has been shipped?
Once shipped you will receive email confirmation to say your order is shipped and will be provided with a tracking number so you can follow the movement of your order.
Is it safe to buy online through Hempology and what are the methods of payment?
Yes, we use Shopify online which is a secure, safe and convenient payment method. Our payment methods are EFT, Direct Deposit, Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.
Can I return my product to Hempology?
Yes, we must ensure you are happy with the products, if you need to return any item please email us directly at sales@hempology.com.au so we can talk about your concerns.
